by Kaitlyn R. from Virtuous Daughters, June 2017~Volume 17, Number 2 We are faced with choices every day. From choosing what to wear in the morning or how to spend our free time, to how to handle a difficult situation at work or what to say to someone who is hurting. Cultivating relationships with the people God has placed in our lives is a choice. Just like you can’t have a healthy tree without tending it, you can’t expect to have good relationships without putting effort into them.

Sibling relationships are something that I get really excited about!! Maybe because siblings are such a wonderful and special part of my life!! What a treasure and tremendous blessing God has given us in our family! Sometimes you may have to have a little imagination to see it that way. It’s like a diamond in the rough. :) Maybe you’re saying, “What, siblings and blessings; isn’t than an oxymoron? You don’t know my siblings.” No, I don’t. But, I do know that unity in the family is important to God. Psalm 133:1 “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Whether you find it difficult or easy to get along with your siblings, in this article I want to come alongside you and encourage you to build stronger sibling relationships. There are so many blessings and benefits in our sibling relationships. by Tiffany S. from Virtuous Daughters, April 2014~Volume 14, Number 1 I was stuck. Not figuratively, but literally. The muddy road to our pond proved to be impassible and I began sinking in miry clay. As I laughed in spite of myself, Gideon came traipsing toward me. His shoes were even less sufficient than my own, yet he reached out for my arm and said in a kind, authoritative tone, “Let me help you.” Grasping his strong, rescuing hand, I, the “maiden in distress,” thought back to fourteen years ago when he was a little baby and I helped care for him. How amazing that my “little” brother had become my “big” brother and was caring for me!

My parents suggested this topic, evangelism, as a good way that we can work with children to advance God’s kingdom. How does evangelism tie in with working with children? Encourage your siblings to witness (by both your words and example). Many people are more receptive to children than to adults. Also, is it ever too early to form habits of obedience to God? by Cheryl S. from Virtuous Daughters, February 2005~Volume 4, Number 11 I believe the #1 ingredient to a blessed relationship with your sister is love. Let’s look at Matthew 22:37-39, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Our sibling relationships should be some of our best. If you think about it, it should be like having your friends with you all day. This time right now is so very important because you’re laying the foundation for your relationships for life. When and if you’re married, you will not have the same time to work on these relationships. God gave each sibling to us to accomplish a special purpose in our lives. We need to learn to love and appreciate each one as they are. by Tiffany S. from Virtuous Daughters, September 2008~Volume 8, Number 6 Dear Girls,
Recently the Lord impressed it upon my heart to earnestly reach out to those He has placed first in my life, specifically my brothers and sister. It’s easy to develop a dull mindset. Although we’re happy, we tend to view home life as a strand of daily, uneventful occurrences with its chores and responsibilities. Maybe we don’t recognize the countless opportunities each day offers to make a difference in the lives of those around us and to bring God glory. by Tiffany S. from Virtuous Daughters, January 2005~Volume 4, Number 10 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard… that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life evermore.”-Psalm 133
