History

The Lord saved me when I was six years old, and it’s been such a sweet journey with Him ever since. When I was twelve, God opened my eyes to His purpose for my life as a believer and gave me a heart to serve Him. He specifically impressed upon me a desire to encourage younger girls to grow in their relationship with Christ.

This led to a girls’ discipleship ministry called Virtuous Daughters. In April 2020, we entered our twentieth year of publishing a magazine for young ladies. This is such a testimony of God’s faithfulness, because as a visionary 12-year-old, when I invited a few local friends to join my “newsletter,” I had no idea how it would grow and all the doors God would open because of it.

I reflect with gratitude to my parents for graciously supporting and encouraging me, to the many young girls (and their mothers) for their enthusiastic response to that first issue in April 2001, and especially to the Lord for taking my heart’s desire – to encourage young ladies to grow in their walk with Christ – and fulfilling it beyond what I could have asked or thought. The Bible says that those who water will themselves be watered (Proverbs 11:25), and this is exactly what has happened through the ministry of Virtuous Daughters. I believe that I have received the greatest blessing and encouragement as God has done much work in my heart and life…not only as I have written articles (there is nothing quite like sharing truth to be convicted of the need to walk it out!), but also as I have read the readers’ articles and been constantly pointed to Jesus. Another great blessing the Lord has kindly given through my time in Virtuous Daughters is an abundance of sweet, godly friendships with families all over the country.

Although the printing of Virtuous Daughters magazine came to an end at the mark of its 20th anniversary (April 2021), my heart to encourage young ladies in their walk with Christ continues. It is my goal to point Christian girls and young women to the victory and purpose we have in our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate source of joy and fulfillment as we walk with Him.

With Joy in Christ,

"But thanks be to God, Which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
~1 Corinthians 15:57-58

I'd Rather Have Jesus

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands.
I'd rather be led by His nail-scarred hands.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wide fame.
I'd rather be true to His holy name.
 He's fairer than lilies of purest bloom; He's sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs. I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead.
