by Tiffany & Brittany S. from Virtuous Daughters, February 2005~Volume 4, Number 11 Two Sisters Share Thoughts about Being Best Friends... Tiffany: Sisters do not have to be exactly alike to be best friends. Brittany and I are very different in many ways, but that does not mean that we are not close. In fact, we appreciate and laugh about each other’s differences because they are special! Sisters who are different from each other are good at “balancing” one another out! “Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.” –Romans 15:7
Brittany: Sisters make mistakes, but sometimes you just have to “let it go.” We have to look past our sisters’ flaws, and still have the same wonderful relationship, while we are working on ourselves. Matthew 7:3-5 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” I’m sure that most of us girls can relate to this verse, and maybe some of us think that our sisters can too. But press on! Tiffany: I would encourage all of you girls to build your sister relationship by “edifying” one another in God’s Word. Your relationship will be so blessed if you will talk about the Bible and read it together, memorize Scripture as sisters, and keep each other accountable for different issues. Brittany and I really enjoy discussing godly principles, and it is an encouragement and challenge to us both. “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” –Romans 14:19 Brittany: Sisters can be a lot of fun. You can laugh together, talk together, be silly, and bring to each other struggles. You can also encourage your sister no matter how older or younger she is than you. You can encourage your sister by writing notes to her, saying encouraging things to her when she struggles. “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” –Galatians 6:2 Tiffany & Brittany: We have come up with a special motto for our relationship. We will conclude by sharing it with you, and encouraging you to allow God to use you for His glory and to be a special encouragement to your sister: Sisters are Forever! Comments are closed.
