I wanted to encourage you in the area of Bible reading. I know that it may seem impossible at times to have a daily quiet time, but oh how important it is! The more time we spend in the Word, the more we realize how much we need it in every area of our lives. Just as our physical food nourishes our physical body and keeps it alive and growing, the Bible is our spiritual food that keeps us nourished and growing in Christ. Our heavenly Father wants us to be utterly dependent on Him, and to depend on Him, we must know Him, and to know Him, we must read His Word. If it is a struggle for you to get this habit formed, you might try this: have someone hold you accountable. Ask someone to ask you every day if you had your quiet time that day. Or another way is to tell yourself in the morning that you must have your spiritual food before you have your physical food (breakfast). Another thing to remember, girls, is that when we pray, it is a way to talk to God, and when we read His Word it is a way to listen to God. May the Lord bless each of you as you learn many things in His Word. by Christianne from Virtuous Daughters, January 2008~Volume 7, Number 10
Grow in the Lord! by Brittany S. from Virtuous Daughters, February 2006~Volume 5, Number 11 “My soul thirsteth after Thee.”—Psalm 143:6
I smiled to myself as I watched my six-year old brother read his Bible. I had to help him with the big words and hardly got time for my own Bible study, but still enjoyed watching him as he completed his first book of the Bible—Philemon by name—since he got the Bible for Christmas. by Hannah from Virtuous Daughters, September 2004~Volume 4, Number 6 Dear Sisters,
Over the past few weeks God has just overwhelmed me with His awesome goodness, love and faithfulness! Do you ever wonder if God hears your prayers? Well, I just wanted to remind you that He does! About a month ago, I was a little discouraged and I just asked God to remind me of His goodness. I knew God was good; I just needed a reminder. Nothing is too little, small, or simple for God. God wants us to trust Him for everything! Do you ever ask God for everyday things? Have you asked God for material things? What about little things you would like to have, but you just don’t have the money for?... We want to be careful not to put God in a box or be demanding of Him. We need to realize that God’s will is truly best and desire it more than our own. We need to learn to be content no matter what. :) |
