by Tiffany S. from Virtuous Daughters, June/July 2019, Volume 19, Number 2 I once heard someone say that our breaking point can become our break-through point when we accept the grace of God. I have certainly found this to be true in my life.... Recently, while seeking to trust and honor the Lord through a very difficult situation, God brought to light an important truth.... My trial was more than just a package of personal pain and confusion to be surrendered to the Lord. It was more than just a test of faith. It was more than an opportunity to walk out the truth I have been taught over my lifetime. My trial involved spiritual warfare! (See Ephesians 6:10-18.)
God showed me that during my trial, so much was at stake! I needed to prayerfully put on the whole armor of God so that I could triumph through the victory I have in Christ. I could not afford to give one inch of ground to Satan by yielding to bitterness, doubt, discontentment, discouragement, wrong thoughts, etc. As I prayed and studied Scripture, it occurred to me that Job knew nothing of what was taking place in the heavenlies. He didn't understand what had prompted a tragic chain of events in his life, nor why he had to endure such suffering. Yet as he chose to trust and even bless God in his trial, great spiritual victories were being won for the kingdom of God. There are many possible reasons for the trials we face, but regardless of the cause, every trial presents an opportunity to resist the devil in the name of Jesus Christ. Our response gives either glory to God or ground to Satan. Thus, our decision to praise and worship God is a serious blow to the enemy of our souls. And truly, how blessed we are to have God's Word as our comfort! Unbelievers have no hope in the storms of life, but we have the presence of Jesus Christ and the assurance of His promises. His grace runs deeper than our pain. Understanding this aspect of spiritual warfare in trials has been a "break-through" point in my life. My entire perspective is renewed as I recognize that I am a soldier of Christ...and I long to stand strong in Him! The enemy would love to see us give up, yet we can claim the victory in Christ and thus gain spiritual ground for eternity. Our trials are not wasted or in vain when used for the glory of God. May each of us put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, and having done all, to stand! Comments are closed.
