by Brittany S. from Virtuous Daughters, March 2007~Volume 6, Number 12 I remember there was a time when all I would drink was milk. Now I enjoy milk, but I really liked it then. I kept exclaiming, “I can’t believe I’m drinking this much milk. I’ll just drink one huge glass at a time.” Now I know why I enjoyed milk so much.... ..I was thirsty. My body was thirsty for water, but instead of quenching my thirst with what I needed, I would just drink milk instead. My body was satisfied—at the time being.
It is the same when someone is needing Jesus. They know they need something, but they’re not quite sure what. So they use worldly things to substitute for what they really need. And they are satisfied—but only for a little while. At the end of their lives, they suddenly realize what they really needed—Jesus. You see, only what we are craving can quench our craving. The world offers temporary satisfaction by encouraging you to rely on and be confident in only yourself. Yet these are just two of many lies which you must look out for. Satan tries to get people to believe in things that make them feel good about themselves and “comfort” them. Yet all this time, there is an empty spot in their heart. They really need one thing--Jesus. Comments are closed.
