"I Rest in Thee"

I rest in Thee,
O Lord my Strength and Shield
My strong Defense from care
And anxious fear
O God, be Thou forever near.
 
I rest in Thee
Though human eye Thee cannot see,
Yet still I trust in darkest time
O with the eye of faith,
May I glimpse Thee.
 
I rest in Thee
‘Tis not alone I go
To fight life’s battles
for Thou are ever, Lord,
My Conqueror and my Sword.
I rest, Lord, in Thy Word.
 
I rest in Thee,
My Pilot and my Guide
Over the stormy sea of life.
Upon life’s pathway,
Lord, walk close beside.
 
I rest in Thee,
My Song, Lord, and my Joy
For with Thee near,
in darkness I can sing:
When in Thy presence,
‘Tis naught that will annoy.
 
I rest in Thee,
I would not work alone
Lord, labor with me,
speak Thy Word through me
That Thou Lord, glorified may be,
Upon Thy throne.

I rest in Thee,
Ah, rest, Lord, it is sweet
When ‘tis in Thee, I find all my repose.
And when I’m in Thy peace,
May come not near my foes.
 
I rest in Thee,
Though all around be fear,
Distress, trial, and care,
I rest in Thee, even though the path
Ahead, Lord, is not clear.
 
I rest in Thee,
My future’s in Thy hands,
And best there, Lord, it is--
O work Thy will,
According to Thy plans.
 
I rest in Thee,
My Peace, my Joy, my Song,
My Strength, my Savior,
Lord, be ever with me,
All my whole life long.
