by Tiffany S. from Virtuous Daughters, August 2007~Volume 7, Number 5 Lately the Lord has been teaching me to recognize and acknowledge His goodness in my life. And He is so good! It can be easy to overlook the “little” things our loving Father does for us every day. As you go about your chores and schedule, try not to constantly be in a flurry. Take time to reflect on what the Lord is doing for you right then. The other day, I went to get the mail. As I walked through God’s beautiful creation, I was shaded by towering pine trees that densely hid the road from my view. When I got to the road and climbed over the gate, a breeze blew in my face and I gazed down the long quiet street. I thought of a comment a friend had made when staying here, “I love being here—I feel like I’m camping!” Wow, I reflected, it really is like I’m camping, and I have the blessing of living here! Thank You, Jesus.
Brittany asked me to find a certain Scripture for her. She knew the verse but couldn’t remember the reference. (Sound familiar?) After scanning the concordance with no help, I flipped toward the Gospel I thought it was in—not toward any particular chapter—and there it was staring at me in the face. Thank You, Jesus, for how you prove Your grace. The other day, my mom was sewing and the bobbin ran out just when the last stitch was completed on her project. “How many times has that happened, Tiffany? God is so good!” She said smiling. Recognize and acknowledge the Lord’s goodness in your life—even in the “little” things that are not really that important. To me, they are reminders He drops throughout the day saying “I love You. I care about you. Keep Me first and foremost in your life.” Some people may say that these things just happen by “chance,” or it’s a “lucky day,” but if God cares about the birds and flowers, and if He knows how many hairs are on our heads and how many stars are in the sky, then I believe details really do matter to Him. “Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?”—Luke 12:24 One of my friends in particular has been very good about acknowledging God for His goodness in her life. Lately she has had some unexpected blessings occur, and when she tells me about them, she always says, “I’m so glad that God let me...I’m so glad that God allowed us to...” The least we can do—when Christ has done so much for us—is honor Him and express our gratitude to Him not only in big things but also in small things. Today I challenge you—keep an eye out for the “little” things God does for you. You will be surprised how much is taken for granted! Possibly even jot it all down. It will be wonderful to some day look back at God’s faithfulness in your life. “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”—Psalm 29:2 Comments are closed.
