by Naomi from Virtuous Daughters, June/July 2019~Volume 19, Number 2 When you're dwelling on the mountain,
On the heights of joy sublime, Where every breath is sweetness, And onward, up, you climb-- Let your song of praise be richer, For this knowledge so divine: My God is faithful. When you're passing through the valley, Of that darkest shadow, death; When the shadows close around you, Stifling each and every breath, Let this promise still sustain you Through that darkest hour of time: My God is faithful. When the victory song is raised, And you rest with sword in hand, When the hard-fought battle's over, Having withstood, still to stand, As you lift your voice in triumph, Let these words sound in heaven-land, "My God is faithful." When you're weary in the battle, Sore and hard-pressed in the fight, When with every passing hour, Wrong seems to triumph over right; When you seem to have no power, Whisper Jesus' precious name. God will be faithful. When the path ahead is clouded, With unknown fears and scenes, When you're anxious for tomorrow, So uncertain life can seem! When fear would whisper, "Don't go on," Oh, my friend, in faith respond, "My God is faithful." When your earthly friends forsake you, And you're left in grief alone, When you've felt a dark betrayal, Such as many hearts have known, There's One Who'll never leave you, 'Tis His promise, sure and sweet, Who is faithful. When the fire rages hotter, And the hour of testing's long, When you cannot pray or worship, And you cannot find a song-- Trust that He like gold will make you, When this testing time is through. For He is faithful. When the dark of doubt o'ershadows; What was clear once becomes dim, When the fiery darts are flying, And it seems that doubt must win-- Lift the shield of faith yet higher, Throw yourself in faith on Him, Who is faithful. He is faithful in the sunshine, He is faithful in the storm. He is faithful on the mountain-top, Or when you're faint and worn. He is faithful in the battle, And when you with grief are torn. My God is faithful. He will leave you, never, never, Precious promise of our Lord. Not once will He fail you ever, He is true unto His Word. Though you will often fail Him, Often will your faith grow dim-- Yet God is faithful. When in heaven's wondrous glory, Jesus face to face we'll meet, With tears of joy we'll kneel and cast, Our crowns down at His feet. Oh, the song we'll raise of victory! When the triumph is complete. For He was faithful. Oh, may we be ever faithful, To our precious Lord and King, That when in the courts of heaven, Those sweet words will gladly ring, "Well done, good and faithful servant, Thou thy rest hast fully won." May we be faithful. Though your faith will wane and waver, His faith ever will be strong, Though the road be hard and weary, And the battle fierce and long, Rest upon your loving Savior, Let Him be your strength and song, Our God is faithful!
