by Brianna from Virtuous Daughters, November 2002~Volume 2, Number 8 Dear Sisters, I would like to share with you my experiences in daily Bible reading. About four years ago (I was 10), my dad bought me a “Read the Bible through a year” Bible. I was very excited about starting, so the next week which was now New Years (how convenient :)) I began the long process in God’s Word which is bringing me closer to Him than ever. I have now read the Bible through three times and am working on my fourth year. The Lord has taught me soo much in my 5-10 minutes I spend with Him daily. It is so important to spend time with Him in His Word and prayer. I know there will be times when there just isn’t enough time for the full-fledged Bible time, so when that happens to me, I try to at least get in a verse and write it down on a card so I will remember it and think about it during the day. The Bible, when read first thing, will set my whole day into perspective! When I forget to read the Word, I find myself becoming cold and snappy to my siblings, and harboring rebellion in my heart against my parents.
Girls, Bible reading is a must for the Christian life. It may seem downright boring at first, but it’ll soon become a joy! My mom puts it this way: It starts out as vegetables, goes up to dry cereal, and finally becomes icecream! For a final thought, never forget that you are the King’s Daughter, and that the King desires to be with you and foremost in your life. Give Him the throne to your heart, and the first part of your day! Comments are closed.
