by Cheryl September 2001~Volume 1, Number 6 Darling Virtuous Daughters,
For most girls, talking comes easily. Praying is just talking to our Heavenly Father. My favorite prayers to learn from were David’s because he candidly prayed from his heart to his Father. I think of how he spent so much time alone caring for his earthly father’s sheep, yet he was never really alone. He had the best companionship that anyone can have. I have learned from the prayers of David that I can share from the depths of my heart with my Father, He knows my thoughts, but why not take the time to share them with Him? Girls, there is no one else who can be with you always, or love you so deeply as God. Tell Him your every concern, your thankfulness, and ask His forgiveness when you’ve sinned. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. Psalm 145:18 Won’t you spend some time right now talking to the Lord? “Pray without ceasing.”- 1 Thessalonians 5:17 by Tiffany S. from Virtuous Daughters, June/July 2020~Volume 20, Number 2 Dear Sisters,
What a rich blessing it has been to dig into the Scriptures and study Matthew 5:3-12! As I read and prayed through these verses, I was challenged to go deeper in my own walk with the Lord. I hope that the following thoughts will be an encouragement to you as well... by Emily from Virtuous Daughters, February 2007~Volume 6, Number 11 It is God’s will that we be content with everything that He has given or not given us. It is Satan’s goal to do everything he can to make us discontent with what God has given or not given.
by Candace Joy from Virtuous Daughters, July 2008~Volume 8, Number 4 Recently, I have been very blessed to meditate on the love of God. In this article, I hope to draw your attention to the unfathomable love that God has for us, His children, as well as the result that this love should produce in our lives. This is by no means exhaustive, and I encourage you to study this topic further.
"Waiting on the Lord" Series by Gina L. from Virtuous Daughters, October 2015~Volume 15, Number 7 Last year when our family of ten was living in a camper volunteering at a ministry in Flagstaff, Arizona, after five months of living in the same camper on a horse ranch—Sermon on the Mount—in Oklahoma, I finally had this wonderful opportunity to use a full-sized kitchen which was located in the welcome center next to where we parked our camper. With more thankfulness than ever, I resumed the daily task of feeding my large crew.
"Waiting on the Lord" Series by Amanda from Virtuous Daughters, July 2016~Volume 16, Number 4 I always have an anxious excitement when I am about to buy a plane ticket. You are planning for a fun trip, but at the same time you are spending a lot of money on something you can’t return. As I was doing this a few weeks ago, I was meticulously going through my itinerary to make sure I had everything right. Finally I clicked to finalize the purchase, but it came up with an ‘ERROR’ screen. It appeared that it hadn’t gone through, but it wouldn’t let me purchase the tickets when I tried again. I was feeling a little frustrated, because I really wanted to get them finalized before prices went up. With no other option, I waited until the next morning to try again. And lo, and behold, it ended up that the tickets were cheaper! As I sat there thanking the Lord, I felt like the Lord saying, “If I can orchestrate your circumstances to save you a little money, how much more can I provide for you in the area of marriage?’ I was humbled. ‘Oh. Yes, Lord. You are able to work out my future in Your perfect timing and in Your perfect way.’ God used a small daily experience to remind me of His goodness and care.
"Waiting on the Lord" Series by Amy from Virtuous Daughters, June 2016~Volume 16, Number 3 In this world that we live, society screams out that we are to be given what we think will make us happy now. There is no thought of waiting until the time is right, until you have enough money saved, or until the Lord brings it to pass. We must help out. The flesh desires and wants it now. There is no encouragement in anything to be content where you are and wait. This life misses out on the blessings we have, worrying about what the future holds. "But godliness with contentment is great gain." (1 Timothy 6:6)
"Waiting on the Lord" Series by Sarah B. from Virtuous Daughters, April 2017~Volume 17, Number 1 “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12)
True words indeed! The shattered remains of once-beautiful hopes...the memories of things past...the crushing grief of an arrow that pierced our tenderest and dearest desire (Lamentations 3:12). The path seems so painful and narrow that we can barely breath (Lamentations 3:7). Will the pain of this dark night ever pass? "Waiting on the Lord" Series by Kristin from Virtuous Daughters, November 2015~Volume 15, Number 8 First of all, I would like to start by saying that I will be preaching to myself. If you happen to benefit from it, that’s great. I most certainly have not “arrived,” and my guess is that I will not be arriving anytime soon.
Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to be married and have a family. When I was around 10 years old, I figured I would be married by 20, so I just had to wait 10 more years!!! Well, I just had my 32nd birthday, and no Prince Farming…(Yes, I meant that. I’d rather have a farmer than a charmer.) Needless to say, singleness has been, and continues to be, one of the greatest struggles of my life. So I’m going to share with you a few thoughts that I hope will turn your eyes (and mine!) back to the faithfulness of our Lord Jesus Christ… "Waiting on the Lord" Series by Hannah H. from Virtuous Daughters, May 2016~Volume 16, Number 2 Jesus loves me!
Think of the worst kind of girl you can possibly imagine, walking in sin, poor, shameful, rejected, impure, ugly, needy and yet rejecting help, living on the streets in rags, acting out in rebellion, the lowest class possible. Now, let your mind imagine the most impressive, powerful, rich, loving, highly regarded, high-ranking, well known, prestigious, wealthy, happy, mighty, perfect, pure, handsome man. |
