from Virtuous Daughters, September 2005~Volume 5, Number 6

This recipe is one my grandmother gave to me and I love it! It is simple and tastes delicious!
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 pkg. rapid rise yeast
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 can evaporated milk (13 oz.)
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 lb. sausage

Combine all dry ingredients, including yeast, in large bowl. Heat liquid ingredients (except eggs) to 125-130. Add to dry ingredients. Add egg yolks (beat together) and stir well. Batter will resemble a thick pancake batter. Sprinkle with flour and let double in size. Drop by tablespoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Push sausages into balls and pinch closed. Let rise again to double in size. Bake at 375 until brown - about 20 minutes.
