by Deborah M. from Virtuous Daughters, February 2008~Volume 7, Number 11 Here is a bread recipe that my family really enjoys. I like to help my sisters make it but have not tried making it by myself yet. One of my goals is to be able to make this bread by myself before my tenth birthday this April. I hope that you will enjoy this bread as much as I do. It is best hot out of the oven with some butter on it. And remember: “And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4:4
In mixing bowl, put 5 c. hot water and 5 c. wheat flour. Mix together. Add oil, honey, and yeast; mix until combined. Sprinkle 3 c. flour on top of mixture, then sprinkle the salt on top of that. Mix thoroughly. Add remaining flour 1/4 c. at a time, until the dough pulls away from the side. Knead for 5 minutes. Shape and put in oiled pans. Let rise till doubled. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until done. (Makes 4 large loaves or 6 regular loaves.) Comments are closed.
