by Brianna from Virtuous Daughters, November 2015~Volume 15, Number 8 When I think back on my single years, I am thankful. Thankful that God is sovereign. I am amazed at how every detail of my life, family, decisions, was purposefully preparing me for the future. I didn’t know it at the time. I wasn’t always feeling a whole lot of gratitude for my circumstances, but still—despite me—God had a plan. Always remember that everything happens for a reason and if you are a child of God it WILL work together for good.
Okay; now for some practical advice: 1. Stay in the Word. I cannot stress this enough. Since my marriage and subsequent births of my three little minions :), the Bible has truly become my strength. I know it sounds cliche, but there it is. I need His Words pouring into my heart DAILY. Without them, I forget that I am ~called ~equipped ~& victorious!! I become bogged down and become depressed; I am apt to complain and lose my love for my Lord and family. As a single girl, I encourage you to flood your soul with His powerful Word. It will come back and encourage you when you have less time to study and meditate. 2. Make money. I know...doesn’t sound very spiritual, does it? :) If you can stay busy creating a nest egg for you to bless your husband with in the future, you will 1) keep from idleness 2) learn the value of money 3) be able to help your future family There are many ways to bring in an income while maintaining your godly femininity. Think outside the box! 3. Develop habits of orderliness and discipline. To run a house well, you must be disciplined. All aspects of homemaking will fall on your shoulders. There is a huge amount of organization, discipline, and drive required to stay on top of your homemaking responsibilities. If you can study and become a neat, disciplined person before marriage, you will have a great head start. May each of you stay close to Jesus during this special—brief—period of singleness you are now in. Before you know it, you may find yourself knee deep in diapers, dishes, and dirt. :) Comments are closed.
