Satisfaction ~ Giving Thanks

I was sorting some paperwork and ran across my sermon notes from a series of messages preached by my pastor about “Five Crossroads of the Christian Life.” One of those crossroads was Satisfaction—Giving Thanks. I thought perhaps the following thoughts from the sermon would be an encouragement:

• Three Important Points: God is good—He only doeth good (Psalm 119:68); God is love (1 John 4:8); God is perfect (Psalm 18:30).
• Foundational Theology: Sovereignty of God the Father, Sufficiency of God the Son, and Seal of God the Spirit. God is over all, He has given us everything, and that which He has given us cannot be taken away. All is mine because I am Christ’s and Christ is God’s. Ephesians 4:6, 1 Corinthians 15:24, 28, John 1:14, John 1:4, Colossians 2:9, 1 Corinthians 3:21, Ephesians 1:13, John 14:16, Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5
• Biblical Philosophy: Total depravity—we deserve  nothing! Anything above being consumed is grounds for being grateful (Lamentations 3:22).
• Total dependence on God—without Him we can do nothing (John 5:19,30, John 15:5).
• Total delight—delight in the Lord! (Hebrews 11:6, Psalm 37:4)  
• Contentment is not based on what you do, but Who you serve.
