by Candace & Christianne from Virtuous Daughters, August 2007~Volume 7, Number 5 Do you have a heart for missions? Have you ever wondered how to practically prepare to maybe one day go into the missions field? One idea that our family has implemented to learn about the nations, pray for laborers to enter His harvest field, and to get a heart for missions is to have a monthly missions night. We choose a country to focus on during the month. Our goal is to learn about the country, its customs, and to pray for it throughout the month. (Unfortunately, we do not always attain to our goal.) We pick a day during the month that we call missions night. On missions night, we get a presentation about the country, have a native meal from that country, and spend more concentrated time praying for that country.
You might want to look up the flag, language, interesting facts about the country, etc. . . . “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and, see, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.”—Matthew 28:19–20 We need a heart for the nations. Jesus commanded us to go and teach all nations. Right now we are not in a position to go, but we can start praying for the Lord to send laborers into the harvest field. We can study about the nations and also learn foreign languages. If we prepare, maybe we will be the laborers that the Lord sends into His harvest field. May our hearts say: “Here I am, Lord, send me.” “Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.”—Matthew 9:37–38 Our family believes that missions is a very important topic, because Jesus believed this was an important topic. Doing a monthly missions night has helped us to remember those in other nations. We hope this helps your family in your quest for godliness. Comments are closed.
